Notice that I mentioned jam session, I wonder if he’s had a few drinks? Well anyway, Ryan Kisor, as always, sounds amazing on trumpet even if the quality of the video isn’t up to par. He nails all the chord changes to All The Things You Are perfectly.

I have to ask, was that Wynton Marsalis taking a ride before Ryan Kisor?

His trumpet solo on the tune Candy from The Sidewinder album is very melodic sounding and fun to sing or hum along with.

Ryan Kisor nails all the changes in this Candy trumpet solo and there are a quite a few Jazz licks to take advantage of as well.

Candy is a basic rhythm changes tune where the bridge of the tune progresses in fourths. I love tunes like these because they are what most Jazz standards use.

I would love to hear what you think of Ryan Kisor’s solo.

I can’t say much about the sax player, so the comments say in You tube. This Jazz video displays good use of Ryan Kisor’s trumpet technique. Ryan Kisor’s trumpet sound is very clean on this tune. Notice how Ryan Kisor makes all the chord changes on this tune even though his trumpet solo really isn’t that impressive. This is what makes a great Jazz musician, the ability to sound good all the time even if you are not super man every time.

It’s a really good CD, definitely take a look at it. I don’t know what tempo Ryan Kisor took Cherokee at though.

Ryan Kisor starts Cherokee off soloing right away, no head is played on this recording. There are a lot of good Jazz licks to take advantage of from this recording. Ryan Kisor does this alternate fingering Jazz lick going down a scale one note at a time. The alternate fingering Jazz lick happens so fast that it is hard to write down at first though. I hope you get the CD and enjoy this Jazz trumpet solo.

It’s amazing how easily Ryan Kisor takes a ride over these chord changes while making beautiful melodies at a pretty fast speed. When I first heard this Jazz trumpet solo I was very impressed. If you are interested in purchasing this album, the name of it is Kisor II album. I don’t know why they called it that, but it’s good Jazz trumpet music and there are a lot of trumpet licks to take advantage of in this recording.
