Wynton Marsalis soloing with Lincoln Center 1

Posted on August 22, 2009 by Sweets

Here’s a nice Jazz trumpet solo by Wynton Marsalis on trumpet with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. There are some very nice Jazz licks that are used in this trumpet solo. It is also just a very enjoyable Jazz trumpet solo all together.

I don’t know the name of this tune, if anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Wynton Marsalis demonstrates how to play trumpet one handed very nicely a couple of times in this Jazz video clip. It is also nice to see how Wynton Marsalis uses a good amount of space between his Jazz licks in this solo.

Wynton Marsalis trumpet solo on Caravan

Posted on July 05, 2009 by Sweets

Wynton Marsalis takes a really expressive trumpet solo over Caravan after doing a good interpretation of the head using a cup mute. This Jazz trumpet solo of Wynton Marsalis took place back in 1988. It’s a live trumpet solo which makes it even cooler. Wynton Marsalis also uses a little bit of circular breathing in the Jazz video.

Wynton Marsalis solo with the Lincoln Jazz Orchestra

Posted on May 22, 2009 by Sweets

Here is a very cool live trumpet solo by Wynton Marsalis with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Wynton Marsalis plays a lot of interesting licks and patterns on this trumpet solo. Wynton also plays some pretty long and crazy Jazz lines. I hope you enjoy the video.

Wynton Marsalis at NOLA 2009 Jazz Fest solo on G blues 1

Posted on April 26, 2009 by Sweets

Wynton MarsalisWynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra were at the 2009 New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday the 25th of April. I was fortunate enough to get down to the Jazz Fest and hear the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra perform. They sounded absolutely great and the crowd really had a good time.

Wynton Marsalis has a really good line up of a trumpet section as well. Ryan Kisor, Marcus NOLA Jazz Fest 2009 - Lincoln Center Jazz OrchestraPrintup, and Sean Jones all took awesome trumpet solos. I was really impressed. Unfortunately I didn’t get the idea to start recording some of their trumpet solos with my iPhone until the end of the concert. I should’ve brought my video camera, but I wasn’t thinking.

At the end of the show, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra rhythm section did some G blues. I apologize that the sound quality isn’t that great, but you can really hear how simple the solo is, yet it really swings. Real New Orleans style playing. I wasn’t able to get the whole trumpet solo, but I hope you enjoy what I was able to record.

Jazz Trumpet Giants – Morrison, Faddis, Marsalis, and Sandoval

Posted on April 20, 2009 by Sweets

Here is an awesome Jazz trumpet video I thought you would enjoy. The video is of pretty poor quality, but how these Jazz trumpet giants play, I don’t think you’ll mind. This Jazz video includes Jon Faddis, James Morrison, Wynton Marsalis, and Arturo Sandoval.

Arturo Sandoval kind of takes the group of Jazz trumpet players up another notch by taking a short ride on trumpet without using a mouthpiece. Arturo Sandoval also finishes out the video with a really high scream. Who knows what he was playing up there.
