Great site, I'm loving it!  What book (or 3) would you recommend for someone who has a couple of years of improv experience, but is looking to take the next step in developing more advanced soloing techniques?

I know the basics, but want to develop more complex solos and licks to use in my solos.

There really isn't a best improv book out there. The best thing to do is listen to your favorite Jazz soloist. When you hear them play something you really like, transcribe it and learn what they are playing it over and memorize the lick or pattern in 12 keys.

Hope this helps.

Favorite trumpet solo ever -- They don't call me "Sweets" because I play sweet, they call me "Sweets" because I like to eat sweets.
