Yamaha custom trumpet model.I currently use a Yamaha custom LA trumpet for Jazz trumpet playing. In my humble opinion though, I would say it really doesn't matter what horn you play for Jazz.

There is a famous saying I would like to bring your way:

There is a perfect horn and mouthpiece made just for you somewhere in the world, good luck finding it!

Here is Maynard Ferguson's take on trumpet equipment. He essentially likes big bore trumpets. But he's a lead player. Jazz trumpet players generally don't need such a large trumpet bore. What do you think?

Huh?  I don't get Maynard Ferguson, it all sounds like propaganda to me on which horn to play on.  Undecided

It may sound cheesy to say this, but I've played a Bach Stradivarius since I was in high school and while I've tried other models, I cannot find anything that plays as comfortably for me.  So as Maynard said in the video above, "it works for me."  My suggestion is you play a lot of horns.  Your best bet is to find the mouthpiece that works for you then using that mouthpiece, go find a horn.  My Strad is an ML bore so it transitions well between jazz and classical.
