 Huh? 0012392
Although I have only been playing brass instruments since--------1951!!

TALK ABOUT "DATIN'MYSELF" AS A REALLY VERY VERY "OLD TOOT!" Its time to come out of the "TRUMPET CLOSET" AND PROCLAIM THAT "THE CORNET IS KING AND WILL RULE FOREVER!" 0012398

WHY?....WHY NOT? THE REASON IS OBVIOUS !

Starting with a CORNET'S SHORTER LENGTH-SIZE AND WEIGHT is a huge advantage for most human beings.

For every young kids or old weak older humanoidal's----- with WEAK SHORT ARM LENGTH GEEK OLD TRUMPETSTERS TOOTS IN THE WINTER OF THEIR MUSICAL LIVES (myself included!! Cry )
THIS ADVANTAGE ALONE IS OBVIOUSLY CLEAR.
For a cornet player it now becomes MUCH EASIER to manage those often quick one handed mute changes.
Next...
Just think of how much more stress that the "bar bell weight effect of a heavy copper mute that is now stuck into the far end of a long trumpet bell, suddenly  add to discomfort of handling to those often  long practice sessions or performances.

Also another advantage of a cornet's short length...it now is so much easier see and read sheet music on a stand, especially if that  trumpet player may be wearing eye glasses. Just imagine how much area that long trumpet bell can obstruct the view of that music on that far away stand.

EYE TO EAR, TO BRAIN AND TO  MUSCLE MEMORY just may be that ALL IMPORTANT BOTTOM LINE when using a cornet. The Cornet is so much closer to your ear...so is the valve cluster...so is the mute...so much closer is the cornet's bell and sound that flow out that bell.
THE BEAT GOES ON AND ON!
Also the short length and weight alone also means that this little cornet is so PORTABLE and handy to pack along with you EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE YOUR HOUSE!
THAT ALONE MEANS THAT NOW YOU HAVE IMMEDIATE ACCESS INSTANTLY to join those impro jam sessions. Whether it be listening to music while being STUCK DEAD STOPPED IN A TRAFFIC JAM or traveling over long stretches of driving long distances...(that short length cornet could also be played, while driving with one hand and cornet in the other!!
Also in my younger days...My  friends and I would hang out in front of coffee houses, play our music and have our open trumpet cases near by with money and change inside next the door way. Even though many times, we were "PAID BY THE SHOP OWNERS TO "STOP PLAYING FOR FOOD OR COFFEE MONEY?"

DON'T TAKE THIS ADVICE AND BE FOREWARNED THAT DRIVING A CAR WHILE TEXTING OR PLAYING A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT COULD PERHAPS GLEAN QUITE A SIZEABLE TRAFFIC VIOLATION? (Although I have been more than lucky and more than just a little sneaky..
HOWEVER..IF STOPPED!! REMEMBER THAT TATTLE TAIL " MOUTHPIECE PRESSURE RING ON YOUR LIP" JUST MIGHT BE CONFUSED BY THE OFFICER AS BEING MADE BY A "BUD LIGHT BEER BOTTLE INSTEAD!" I HEAR THAT A DUI IS TRULY NOT A PLEASENT TRAFFIC STOP!"

BOTTOM LINE: DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT A SHORT CORNET ALONG FOR THE RIDE-"N ALL THAT JAZZ.
