Favorite trumpet solo ever -- They don't call me "Sweets" because I play sweet, they call me "Sweets" because I like to eat sweets.

Hi There!

As a committed European I could not consider voting on a list which did not include Nils Petter Molvaer, or Tomasz Stanko.  Some of your American players are pretty good - really like Lee Morgan, but would go for Tomasz Stanko on a revised list.

Kind regards

Hey Sweets!  I'll forgive you this time... Wink  I was actually beginning to wonder about this forum...I was noticing a lot of time passing between yesterday and some of the most recent posts.  Is this a new site?

Yeah, this site is fairly new and it needs a little bit more promotion to get more people to the site. Hopefully things will pick up on it.

Thanks for being a member.  Grin

WOW!
Although this list has an amazing list of exceptionally gifted  jazz trumpet artists, actually this voting list is only the TIP OF THE ICEBERG of great jazz musicians.

I have had the pleasure of of attending many performances and clinics with a few that are listed here...However the WORLD IS FILLED WITH GIFTED GIANTS OF JAZZ TRUMPET.

I have said this many times over the years how much I have been influnced by one amazing jazz trumpet player and renouned teacher from NYC who I am so lucky to call my mentor and friend.

Art Tatum was a jazz pianist and virtuoso who was nearly blind. He is acknowledged by many to be one of the greatest pianists of all time, revolutionizing the role piano played in jazz. Tatum drew upon stride piano to build up a style uniquely his own, playing with swinging pulse and futuristic improvisational abilities.
