Hi all, fist post here. I have no clue how often this is used, but I will ask. I play the trumpet (DUH!) and I want to learn the solo part for trumpet in the song Fire Dance that was played by the great Allen Vizzutti. Yes, I know. Extremely hard but I think I can do it with enough time. I am not talking a few weeks here...
Does anyone have a copy or know where I can find it?
Thanks,
Cody

This festival is approved as a regional program for participation by students in the following states: Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Because of the stature of our guest artists, it is imperative that all applications get in as early as possible. Bands will be admitted on first come first served basis till all slots are full.

I love Gillespie, was very significant in the development of bebop and modern jazz. His trumpet playing influenced such players as Miles Davis, Clifford Brown and Fats Navarro. After spending time in Cuba and coming back to America, Gillespie also greatly helped in the advancement of Afro-Cuban Jazz. He was characterized by his horn rimmed glasses, bent trumpet and uniquely puffy cheeks when playing.

Mingus was called the “heir apparent to Duke Ellington” because of his fantastic writing for medium-sized ensembles. His compositions showcased the skill of each of his players, whom he made sure were not only talented, but characteristically unique like himself.

Art Tatum was a jazz pianist and virtuoso who was nearly blind. He is acknowledged by many to be one of the greatest pianists of all time, revolutionizing the role piano played in jazz. Tatum drew upon stride piano to build up a style uniquely his own, playing with swinging pulse and futuristic improvisational abilities.

I think it might be become more difficult to develop the language of music. I think we need to start explaining what is going on.

Music has developed an incredible amount in the last few decades. I think as a language, so much has happened. I also think it’s wonderful that as a community, we seem to be doing much better. In the past, a lot of musicians had problems with drugs and alcohol and now so many musicians are going to college and really studying the language.

Geared to the beginning to intermediate student, this book starts with triadic and four part chords, and transitions into the concept of voice leading via inversions which is the key to moving voicings in a smooth manner.
