Clifford Brown takes a great trumpet solo on the tune Confirmation. I really wanted to share this Jazz trumpet solo with you. Clifford Brown is known for using a hard tongue in his Jazz solos. Clifford Brown also uses a lot of quick flips or turnarounds that he puts in pretty much everyone of his trumpet solos. Notice how Clifford Brown nails all the ii V7 I chords in Confirmation. This Clifford Brown trumpet solo is from his album entitled: The Complete Blue Note & Pacific Jazz Recordings
. I believe Confirmation is on the last CD in this set. There are 4 CDs included with this purchase.

I wanted to share a really fast Jazz trumpet solo of Ryan Kisor on the tune Cherokee from his album entitled Kisor. It’s a really good CD, definitely take a look at it. I don’t know what tempo Ryan Kisor took Cherokee at though.
Ryan Kisor starts Cherokee off soloing right away, no head is played on this recording. There are a lot of good Jazz licks to take advantage of from this recording. Ryan Kisor does this alternate fingering Jazz lick going down a scale one note at a time. The alternate fingering Jazz lick happens so fast that it is hard to write down at first though. I hope you enjoy this Jazz trumpet solo.

I wanted to share a very energetic trumpet solo Roy Eldridge (also known as “Little Jazz”) took live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Roy Eldridge took the last solo on a tune called The Opener which Charlie Parker started with taking the first improvised solo. If you’re interested in the CD, it is called Jazz at the Philharmonic, 1949
.
I love this Jazz trumpet solo because Roy Eldridge plays it with so much energy. All the other rides were good to, but Roy Eldridge’s solo just had so much more energy and the trumpet solo didn’t have too many notes either. Just a whole lot of energy. Roy Eldridge is known for his edgy trumpet playing, which I like.

This Jazz trumpet solo of Nicholas Payton starts off nicely on the head with just guitar and trumpet. I really like how it sounded. Nicholas Payton uses a lot of skips with fourth patterns that sound like he is taking his trumpet solo outside. That is probably why I like this Nicholas Payton trumpet solo.
When I first heard this recording, I never heard a trumpet player sound like that before. If you are interested in getting this Nicholas Payton CD, it’s called From This Moment
. It Could Happen To You is my favorite listen on the entire CD, but there are other good tracks as well.

Greg Gisbert takes a really nice Jazz trumpet solo on the tune Smile from his Court Jester album
. When you listen to the trumpet solo at first, you’ll notice Greg Gisbert doesn’t do anything extraordinary with his trumpet solo. He just sounds really good on the solo and it’s a real catchy trumpet solo that you’ll be humming to yourself after you listen to it a few times. I would love to hear what you think of this Greg Gisbert solo.
