I love Arturo Sandoval, I really don’t know whether or not he came up with the Tunisia Blues – which is a blues break in A Night in Tunisia.
Click the red play button to listen to Arturo Sandoval’s great trumpet performance, lots of great licks to steal in the video.
One of the main reasons I wanted to share this Jazz trumpet video with you is because there are some really great close ups of how Arturo Sandoval handles the trumpet while doing some really intense soloing.
If you look closely, you can see how Arturo Sandoval switches back and forth between flat trumpet fingerings and curled trumpet fingerings. I’m not a 100% sure on how this helps his trumpet technique, but it obviously must be doing something for him.
Also take a look at how Arturo Sandoval sets up his chops before playing in the super upper register on trumpet. It’s just something to think about. There is a really nice pedal tone performance at the end of his solo, finally ending on a super high note. Anyway, Arturo performed this great trumpet solo back in 1991 at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival
You’re are going to love this live Jazz trumpet video of Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Chuck Findley, and Byron Stripling all taking a ride on Cherokee, trading eights, and starting and finishing with a great harmonized head of Cherokee. All four of these top notch trumpet players take phenomenal Jazz rides on Cherokee, which we all know is a pretty tough tune. Arturo Sandoval plays some pretty impressive high notes, Byron Stripling nails every chord change, Chuck Findley plays a very melodic trumpet solo, and Randy Brecker shows off his trumpet style all in one very fast, trumpet lick filled Jazz video. This recording was performed with the GRP All Star Big Band.
I don’t know the name of the tune because the video is in a foreign language as far as descriptions go. What I do know is that Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie both sound great on this live Jazz trumpet video. Arturo Sandoval plays some really fast licks and a high note at the end of the first tune. Then Arturo starts playing piccolo trumpet out of all things, Arturo sounds good though, then he finally finished on yet another trumpet high note.
Arturo Sandoval takes a great trumpet solo cadenza on A Night in Tunisia from his album The Best of Arturo Sandoval. I cut out the best part of this recording. Arturo Sandoval starts the solo off with a trumpet cadenza with some really fast trumpet licks. Then Arturo Sandoval changes the whole mood and switches to some nice blues licks. And finally, the band comes back in and Arturo Sandoval continues to play some really nice licks ending on a high note. One last thing I almost forgot to mention is that this is a live trumpet solo.

Here is an awesome Jazz trumpet video I thought you would enjoy. The video is of pretty poor quality, but how these Jazz trumpet giants play, I don’t think you’ll mind. This Jazz video includes Jon Faddis, James Morrison, Wynton Marsalis, and Arturo Sandoval.
Arturo Sandoval kind of takes the group of Jazz trumpet players up another notch by taking a short ride on trumpet without using a mouthpiece. Arturo Sandoval also finishes out the video with a really high scream. Who knows what he was playing up there.
This new blog was created for trumpet players interested in finding some new Jazz licks. Of course, everyone is welcome. You don't have to play trumpet to use the licks and patterns on this site. There are cool Jazz trumpet videos, Jazz trumpet solos, and a Jazz trumpet forum to take advantage of as well.
Their ain't nothin' wrong with being a copy cat, as long as you copy the right Cat.
