Jazz trumpet heaven jam session. A rare gathering with Dizzy Gillespie, Jon Faddis, Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Owens, and Vaughn Nark jamming to the tune Tour De Force. Nothing is better than listening to trumpet players show off and jam against each other. With Jon Faddis and super high notes to Wynton Marsalis and […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is not one of the best trumpet transcriptions, but an amazing trumpet solo by Scott Englebright on the tune Maynard Ferguson. I wonder who named the tune “Maynard Ferguson”? Interesting name for a jazz tune. I hope you enjoy!

I just had to share this video with everyone. Jon Faddis is really something else. How he got his trumpet chops to be so strong, I will forever wonder. Anyway, this awesome Jazz video of Jon Faddis taking a trumpet solo in the presence of Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, and Jon Henricks. The thing I […] Read the rest of this entry…

If you haven’t seen this Jazz video of James Morrison on You Tube yet, you’re in for a real treat. There are a whole bunch of cool things James Morrison (an Australian trumpet player/trombone player) shows off on. Switching back and forth between trombone and trumpet, multiphonics at the beginning on trombone, using a trombone […] Read the rest of this entry…

I love listening to Allen Vizzutti trumpet solos. Vizzutti is cool because he can do tunes like Fire Dance that sort of combine Jazz soloing along with classical trumpet technique that is really impressive. Things like double tonguing octaves, circular breathing, etc… Allen Vizzutti takes an awesome trumpet ride on this tune and an amazing […] Read the rest of this entry…

I ran across this interesting rendition of A Night in Tunisia trumpet solo cadenza by Allen Vizzutti on You Tube and I thought I would share it with you. Allen Vizzutti performed this excellent trumpet cadenza with the Temple Jazz Orchestra. Allen Vizzutti also demonstrates some really nice circular breathing techniques and cheesy stage humor […] Read the rest of this entry…

I love Arturo Sandoval, I really don’t know whether or not he came up with the Tunisia Blues – which is a blues break in A Night in Tunisia. Click the red play button to listen to Arturo Sandoval’s great trumpet performance, lots of great licks to steal in the video. One of the main […] Read the rest of this entry…

I had the great opportunity to live in Japan for 5 years. While I was stationed in Japan I also had the opportunity to meet Eric Miyashiro in person. It’s a funny story really, I was at a music store near Tokyo and heard a trumpet player doing two octave lip slurs in the distance. […] Read the rest of this entry…
