Roy Hargrove trumpet solo over blues rhythm changes

Posted on June 07, 2009 by Sweets

Here is a nice Jazz trumpet solo I found of Roy Hargrove taking a ride over some basic rhythm changes. I like this Jazz trumpet solo because Roy Hargrove nails all the changes and he makes use of good space throughout the trumpet solo. The name of the tune is apparently Da Costa De La Cuba, but I never heard of it before. The tune is basically rhythm changes with an arranged head. The rhythm changes are taken at a faster and more fun tempo. I almost forgot to mention that this tune was performed by the Roy Hargrove Quintet.

Just wondering: ‘Blues Rhytm Changes’ ? Wassat? Isn’t this just regular changes from I Got Rythm?

Congrats on your site – I already swiped all the dim patterns and gone on rehearsing them 🙂

To be a 100% honest Ace, I’m not totally sure about the chord changes on this tune, I just made a quick guess on what they were.
