Jazz trumpet heaven jam session. A rare gathering with Dizzy Gillespie, Jon Faddis, Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Owens, and Vaughn Nark jamming to the tune Tour De Force. Nothing is better than listening to trumpet players show off and jam against each other. With Jon Faddis and super high notes to Wynton Marsalis and […] Read the rest of this entry…

Here is a nice video of some great jazz legends taking trumpet solos over A Night in Tunisia. Lee Morgan, Maynard Ferguson, Clifford Brown, Arturo Sandoval, and Dizzy Gillespie. Unfortunately the transcriptions don’t have chord changes. But A Night in Tunisia isn’t too complicated to just grab the chord changes from somewhere else.

I was asked a while back from a fellow trumpet player that follows the site if I could show him a Dizzy Gillespie Jazz lick and/or trumpet trick. He showed me a video, and I started working it up, but never had the time to perfect it. What I’m saying is that I’m still in […] Read the rest of this entry…

I just had to share this video with everyone. Jon Faddis is really something else. How he got his trumpet chops to be so strong, I will forever wonder. Anyway, this awesome Jazz video of Jon Faddis taking a trumpet solo in the presence of Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, and Jon Henricks. The thing I […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is part of where the Bebop style of Jazz came from. Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie helped revolutionize the Jazz world with their new style of bebop. Take a historical trip back to 1952 enjoy some great Jazz music. Charlie Parker sounded great in the Jazz video, but Dizzy Gillespie was definitely more melodic […] Read the rest of this entry…

I don’t know the name of the tune because the video is in a foreign language as far as descriptions go. What I do know is that Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie both sound great on this live Jazz trumpet video. Arturo Sandoval plays some really fast licks and a high note at the end […] Read the rest of this entry…

Roy Eldridge and Dizzy Gillespie both sound great on the tune Limehouse Blues. There are really a lot of good Jazz trumpet licks to take advantage of on this recording. I highly recommend getting the album Roy and Diz if you don’t own it already. It is packed full of great trumpet solos by Roy […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is a pretty easy diminished lick to learn. I didn’t get this diminished pattern from Dizzy Gillespie, but I sure hear Dizzy play it a lot in his recordings. It is kind of a good lick to use during a pause or hold for a cadenza at the end of a tune. Here is […] Read the rest of this entry…
