You need to listen to this Roy Hargrove trumpet solo on this ballad arrangement of It’s Easy to Remember from his album Approaching Standards. You’ll notice how Roy Hargrove and his rhythm section really connect on the solo. Roy Hargrove also does a great job demonstrating how a ballad should be played by using lots […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is one of my favorite Freddie Hubbard Jazz trumpet solos. It is full of good Jazz licks and ideas. It is off his Hub-Tones Album. I just love listening to this trumpet solo because Freddie Hubbard is so creative and plays pretty aggressively throughout the whole solo. Video removed

Randy Brecker gets featured with the Louis Bellson Big Band on a live show. You can hear that Randy Brecker was already influencing the Jazz world with his new age trumpet style back when this video was recorded. You didn’t hear too many Jazz trumpet players play outside like that. I had the opportunity to […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is one of my favorite Freddie Hubbard Jazz trumpet solos. It is off his album Ready for Freddie on the tune Birdlike. One of the reasons I’m impressed with this Freddie Hubbard trumpet solo is because it lasts for about 4 minutes and Freddie Hubbard never fails to run out of good ideas, let […] Read the rest of this entry…

This bebop lick goes up in ascending 3rds through the bebop scale. It is kind of like one of those basic exercises you’ve learned out the of the Arbans book. The only difference is that there is a half step between each ascending 3rd. I apologize in the video I said the Jazz lick goes […] Read the rest of this entry…

The chord changes for The Song Is You are pretty difficult. It’s amazing how easily Ryan Kisor takes a ride over these chord changes while making beautiful melodies at a pretty fast speed. When I first heard this Jazz trumpet solo I was very impressed. If you are interested in purchasing this album, the name […] Read the rest of this entry…

Greg Gisbert takes a really nice Jazz trumpet solo on the tune Smile from his Court Jester album. When you listen to the trumpet solo at first, you’ll notice Greg Gisbert doesn’t do anything extraordinary with his trumpet solo. He just sounds really good on the solo and it’s a real catchy trumpet solo that […] Read the rest of this entry…
