This Jazz trumpet solo of Freddie Hubbard is really great. Very melodic and builds very nicely. The tune Open Sesame, from the album Open Sesame, switches back and forth between G minor and C minor (I think – let me know by commenting). Lots of cool minor Jazz licks to take advantage of in this […] Read the rest of this entry…

This descending major triad Jazz lick is really easy to learn because it just goes down the major scale in triads based off the major scale you’re playing in. I heard Freddie Hubbard play this Jazz lick off his album on the tune entitled Dear John which is basically an arrangement of Giant Steps. Here […] Read the rest of this entry…

Freddie Hubbard takes a great Jazz trumpet solo on Cantelope Island. If you are interested in getting the DVD it’s One Night With Blue Note. This is actually one of Freddie Hubbard’s most famous trumpet solos. One of the things I love about Freddie Hubbard is how much he really gets into his solos and […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is one of my favorite Freddie Hubbard Jazz trumpet solos. It is full of good Jazz licks and ideas. It is off his Hub-Tones Album. I just love listening to this trumpet solo because Freddie Hubbard is so creative and plays pretty aggressively throughout the whole solo. Video removed

One of the reasons I’m impressed with this Freddie Hubbard trumpet solo is because it lasts for about 4 minutes and Freddie Hubbard never fails to run out of good ideas, let […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is a cool sounding Freddie Hubbard signature lick. You hear Freddie Hubbard play this alternate fingering lick on a lot of different tunes in a lot of different variations. Here is a sound sample played on trumpet: With this lick, you don’t really have to learn it in 12 keys. The lick itself only […] Read the rest of this entry…
