I wanted to let you know about a really fast Jazz trumpet solo of Ryan Kisor on the tune Cherokee from his album entitled Kisor. It’s a really good CD, definitely take a look at it. I don’t know what tempo Ryan Kisor took Cherokee at though. Ryan Kisor starts Cherokee off soloing right away, […] Read the rest of this entry…

I wish you could take listen to a very energetic trumpet solo by Roy Eldridge (also known as “Little Jazz”) that was recorded live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Roy Eldridge took the last solo on a tune called The Opener which Charlie Parker started with taking the first improvised solo. I love this Jazz […] Read the rest of this entry…

The chord changes for The Song Is You are pretty difficult. It’s amazing how easily Ryan Kisor takes a ride over these chord changes while making beautiful melodies at a pretty fast speed. When I first heard this Jazz trumpet solo I was very impressed. If you are interested in purchasing this album, the name […] Read the rest of this entry…

Tom Harrell takes a ride on Tune Up which is a pretty fast tune, but he nails the solo to the wall. Tune up is basically 3 different ii V7 I chords played over […] Read the rest of this entry…

Tom Harrell is one of my favorite jazz trumpeters ever. These two Jazz trumpet solos are a big reason why. Tom Harrell has a really nice trumpet sound and Jazz style on these two solos. I would consider Tom Harrell to be an aggressive trumpet player. That’s just my opinion though. The first April Mist […] Read the rest of this entry…

Probably my most favorite trumpet CD ever made is To Diz with Love: Diamond JubileeĀ Recordings. It is just filled with awesome trumpet players like Claudio Roditi, Wynton Marsalis, Jon Faddis, and more. Well I wanted to feature Claudio Roditi because he is just awesome on this CD. He has such an aggressive sound and […] Read the rest of this entry…
