Arturo Sandoval takes a great trumpet solo cadenza on A Night in Tunisia from his album The Best of Arturo Sandoval. I’m mentioning the best part of this recording. Arturo Sandoval starts the solo off with a trumpet cadenza with some really fast trumpet licks. Then Arturo Sandoval changes the whole mood and switches to […] Read the rest of this entry…

I wanted to let you know about a really fast Jazz trumpet solo of Ryan Kisor on the tune Cherokee from his album entitled Kisor. It’s a really good CD, definitely take a look at it. I don’t know what tempo Ryan Kisor took Cherokee at though. Ryan Kisor starts Cherokee off soloing right away, […] Read the rest of this entry…

I wish you could take listen to a very energetic trumpet solo by Roy Eldridge (also known as “Little Jazz”) that was recorded live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Roy Eldridge took the last solo on a tune called The Opener which Charlie Parker started with taking the first improvised solo. I love this Jazz […] Read the rest of this entry…

This Jazz trumpet solo of Nicholas Payton starts off nicely on the head with just guitar and trumpet. I really like how it sounded. Nicholas Payton uses a lot of skips with fourth patterns that sound like he is taking his trumpet solo outside. That is probably why I like this Nicholas Payton trumpet solo. Roy Eldridge and Dizzy Gillespie both sound great on the tune Limehouse Blues. There are really a lot of good Jazz trumpet licks to take advantage of on this recording. Freddie Hubbard takes a great Jazz trumpet solo on Cantelope Island. If you are interested in getting the DVD it’s One Night With Blue Note. This is actually one of Freddie Hubbard’s most famous trumpet solos. One of the things I love about Freddie Hubbard is how much he really gets into his solos and […] Read the rest of this entry…

You need to listen to this Roy Hargrove trumpet solo on this ballad arrangement of It’s Easy to Remember from his album Approaching Standards. You’ll notice how Roy Hargrove and his rhythm section really connect on the solo. Roy Hargrove also does a great job demonstrating how a ballad should be played by using lots […] Read the rest of this entry…

This is one of my favorite Freddie Hubbard Jazz trumpet solos. It is full of good Jazz licks and ideas. It is off his Hub-Tones Album. I just love listening to this trumpet solo because Freddie Hubbard is so creative and plays pretty aggressively throughout the whole solo. Video removed
